Why Wordpress is my Blog of Choice?
WordPress is blogging platform of my choice that can easily run ordinary website and any type of blogs. Why use Wordpress and not some other platform? Here are some reasons:
- WordPress is free – I am sure you love free offers and software. Some may argue that since it is free, it is not that powerful due to every one using it. On the other hand, since a large population is using this, there are more free plugins and themes available in the market.
- Although WordPress is free, its development is overseen by a commercial company, Automattic, and they bring commercial savvy, financial resources, and slickness to the project
- WordPress has a huge community of developers and enthusiasts behind it – this means that there is a mass of online documentation and any number of plugins and themes.
- WordPress has a very rapid development cycle, which keeps it at the cutting edge as far as features are concerned, and any bugs or security holes are rapidly squashed.
- WordPress has a focus on usability and user-testing which many open source projects lack.
- Constant update on wordpress software to make it more user friendly and powerful. The latest version is WP 2.7 and you can get the complete update on this version here.
- Extensive Wordpress support forum is available where you can ask any type of wordpress related questions.
- Due to such a massive popularity, majority of the web hosting companies are compatible with wordpress. Here is the word of caution for you - before you install the newer version of wordpress, it is always better to ask your hosting company for compatibility with the latest wordpress version.
- Step-by-step installation process is always available to support new as well as experienced bloggers.
- You can always get the latest news on wordpress and keep up to date all the time if required.
As you can see I can keep talking about the wordpress as I am very passionate about this blogging platform. While other blogging platforms may be equally good, there is more support for the wordpress due to a large community.
