Develop Free Blog with Free WordPress.com

First of all thanks to all our readers who are following this blog so closely and thanks to all of your emails encouraging us to write more about the blogging.

Now if you have not read the earlier two blog posts on how to create your first free blog with free wordpress.com, then I suggest you to read those two blog posts first:

  1. Explore WordPress.com Part-1
  2. Explore WordPress.com Part-2

So let’s go back to our free blog which together we created i.e. www.AskJayAuthor.wordpress.com where you can ask questions. In fact we have already started receiving questions from some of our readers and you can read the following two blog posts for the reader’s question and our answer:

Today we will create the widgets for the AskJayAuthor.wordpress.com blog. So here are the steps:

Step 1: Go to your free blog wp-login page. So in my case it is  http://AskJayAuthor.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ login page .

Step 2: Once you are logged in, you will be taken to the dashboard (you must be familiar with this by now!).

Step 3: On the left side of the panel, you will notice that there is a tab called "Appearance". You should see the picture below to be familiar with this tab.

Step 4: Now in the above picture, you will notice another hyperlink called Widget. Click on this and you will get the following page:

Step 5: Now you will notice that link called ‘Add’ against various widgets. See the picture below which shows what widgets I have added to my right side panel.

Step 6: After adding few, don’t forget to save your widget selection. Let’s look how our blog looks like.

You will notice that I have even added videos using my friend Neel Price’s video collection on google earth and other google applications. Isn’t this look cool? And the whole set up took only few minutes.

Hope you are getting more excited after learning how quickly you can change the look of your blog!

Wishing you all the blogging success,

Jay Author
